Privacy Policy — Jurni
Last Updated: February 23, 2026
1. Introduction
Borrowed Fire LLC ("we," "us," or "our") built Jurni ("the App") with privacy as a core principle. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.
This policy applies specifically to the Jurni app. For our company-wide practices, see our general Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Sign in with Apple
Jurni uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. When you sign in, Apple provides:
- User identifier: A unique, anonymous ID specific to our app
- Display name: Your name, if you choose to share it (you can choose to hide it)
- Email address: Your email or an Apple-generated relay address (you choose)
This information is stored locally on your device in Core Data and Apple's Keychain. It is used solely to identify you within shared trips and display your name to trip members.
We do not have servers. Your authentication data never leaves your device and Apple's iCloud.
2.2 Trip Data
All trip data you create in Jurni is stored on your device, including:
- Trip details (names, dates, destinations)
- Activities (flights, trains, lodging, places, restaurants)
- Documents and scanned images
- QR code data
- Expenses and payment splits
- Polls and votes
- Location coordinates for activities (latitude/longitude entered by you)
This data is stored locally using Apple's Core Data framework. We do not operate any servers or databases.
2.3 iCloud Sync
If you have iCloud enabled, your trip data syncs across your devices via Apple's CloudKit service. This means:
- Your data is stored in your personal iCloud account, managed by Apple
- We cannot access, read, or modify your iCloud data
- Sync is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy
2.4 Shared Trips
When you share a trip with others via iCloud sharing:
- Trip data is shared through Apple's CloudKit sharing (CKShare)
- Only people you explicitly invite can see the shared trip
- Participants see your display name and role (owner, editor, viewer)
- You can revoke access at any time
Shared data is transmitted and stored entirely through Apple's infrastructure. We have no access to it.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Browsing history or app usage patterns
- Crash reports (unless you opt in via Apple's built-in crash reporting)
- Any data to third-party analytics services
We have zero servers and zero databases. We literally cannot see your data.
4. Device Permissions
Jurni may request the following device permissions:
- Camera: To scan QR codes and documents using your device camera. Images are processed on-device only.
- Photo Library: To import trip cover photos and document images you select. We only access photos you explicitly choose.
- Notifications: To send local reminders for poll deadlines. All notifications are scheduled locally on your device — no push notification servers are involved.
You can revoke any permission at any time through your device's Settings app. The App will continue to function with reduced functionality.
5. Third-Party Services
5.1 Apple iCloud / CloudKit
Trip data syncs through Apple's CloudKit. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to your iCloud data.
5.2 Sign in with Apple
Authentication is handled entirely by Apple. See Apple's Sign in with Apple documentation for details on how Apple handles your credentials.
6. Data Security
Your data is protected by:
- Apple's Keychain: Authentication credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain, encrypted by the device
- iCloud encryption: CloudKit data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
- On-device storage: Core Data is protected by your device's passcode and encryption
Since we don't operate servers, there is no server-side data to breach.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
7.1 Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings within the App. This permanently removes:
- Your user profile from the device
- All authentication data from the Keychain
- Your session data
7.2 Trip Data
Deleting the App removes all local trip data. To remove iCloud data, disable Jurni in Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud.
8. Children's Privacy
Jurni is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Since the App requires Sign in with Apple, Apple's own age restrictions apply.
9. International Users
Your data is stored on your device and in your iCloud account. Apple manages iCloud data storage locations in accordance with their policies and applicable law. We do not transfer data internationally because we do not have access to your data.
10. Your Rights
Regardless of where you live, you have the right to:
- Access: All your data is visible within the App
- Delete: Use the in-app account deletion feature or delete the App
- Portability: Your data lives in your iCloud account, which you control
- Revoke sharing: Remove participants from shared trips at any time
Since we don't collect your data, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete on our end.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
